Merchant360, Inc, the global leader in payments strategy and implementation specialising in point of sale development and integration of mobile contactless, EMV and NFC has opened an office in Sydney, Australia. The main objective is to better support clients such as eftpos, Paymark, and others in the Asia Pacific region.

The region and specifically Australia and New Zealand are progressing rapidly with change not witnessed in the 20 year history of payments technology. Merchant360 is unique in the market as they develop technology and applications for both the acquirer (terminal applications and integration) and consumers (mobile wallet integration) and therefore help organisations better close the loop on payments and value add services for consumers.

Australia has a larger contactless footprint than most countries – more than 35% across 40% of the country’s top retailers. This, combined with high penetration of smart phones (more than 52% of the general public) means Australia is leading the globe in infrastructure to support NFC adoption. However for the middle market merchant, such as your local café, pub or dry cleaner, the availability of contactless is very low – less than 12%.
